Journaling Workshop: Awakening to Beauty (Session 3)

Our souls long for beauty!  Beauty evokes a sense of wonder and awe, a sense of belonging, and makes us feel alive.  Beauty is all around and within us, hidden in the ordinary moments of our days.  Yet how often do we fail to recognize and appreciate these many gifts and blessings?

Negativity often dominates our thoughts, speech, and actions, creating unhealthiness in the soul and spirit.  This negativity makes it difficult, if not impossible, to recognize and appreciate the beauty in our world.  Times of stress and uncertainty actually create an ideal time to awaken a sense of beauty.

This series is divided into three 2-hour workshops held in three consecutive weeks.  No journaling experience is necessary, only a sense of curiosity and an open heart and mind.   Save the dates: Oct 14, 21, 28 from 1-3 pm!

Session I   Beauty in Simplicity

We live in a busy, fast-paced culture where doing, achieving, and possessing is

valued over simply being.  Our minds cling to unexamined beliefs, ideas,

                 judgments, and grudges.

We will explore ways to declutter our schedules, minds, and emotions in order

to make space for what truly matters and what gives us purpose and meaning.

Session II  Beauty in Imperfection

Perfection is a myth not based in reality.  It does not exist in the natural

world nor in the human being.  The pursuit of perfection can leave

one feeling stressed, anxious, and depressed as it feeds into feelings of

                  unworthiness.

We will explore ways of seeing imperfection through different eyes as we

examine and ponder different cultural perspectives on this subject.

Session III Beauty in Authenticity

Authenticity is the ability to simply be ourselves no matter what the situation

or context, without masks or facades.  Authenticity is the true self that may

be buried beneath layers of pretense, people-pleasing, and trying to live up to

                   others expectations.

We will explore how we may be currently operating in the world and how we

can reconnect with who we truly are at our core.
